Quick Hit: Urban Table

Urban Table Makes a Splash

About 10 days ago at the Corinth Square shopping center in Prairie Village, Urban Table opened it's doors to much fanfare and high expectations.  The owners of the wildly popular BRGR Burger joint just a few doors down have brought an entirely new concept to the Prairie Village restaurant scene.  After giving them a week to work out a few kinks that are common with any new restaurant we stopped in for lunch yesterday to see what all the hubbub is about.

Walking through the front doors you are immediately struck with how chic and cool the interior design and décor is in the restaurant.  You step up to the counter to place your order from either the breakfast side of the menu that is served till 4 daily or from the lunch/dinner side of the menu.  Focusing on fresh, seasonal, and organic ingredients the Urban Table goal is to feed people great food at a reasonable price.  The midday menu is compact and will not overwhelm you with so many options it’s hard to pick one.  For my first time I tried the Roasted Chicken Panini with a side of house made potato chips.

The sandwich came on fresh focaccia bread and was packed full of flavor with just a little heat, but not enough to leave your mouth on fire.  The chicken was well seasoned and the cabbage was tender.  The side of chips were paper thin and fried to a golden brown along with being perfectly seasoned.  One of my big gripes about house made chips is often they are greasy.  These potato offerings were just right.
All in all our first trip to the new Bread & Butter Restaurant Group’s was a success.  The servers were attentive without hovering; the food was delivered quickly while delivering good flavors.  We are looking forward to a few return trips and will do a full review with hopefully an interview with owner Alan Gaylin in the coming months.
